JULY 4, 2015 NEWSLETTER FROM BRIAN

Hi Good Citizens of Johnson County,

I am sorry that it has been so long since I have updated you of the many things that have been accomplished in our 2 1/2 years of service to you.

We have been very busy in moving forward and are involved in much and always working toward making things better for you.

Again, it has been an eye opening experience and I am still learning about many of the things we have been elected to do, oversee, and just getting a feel for what our jobs as Commissioners entail. I am still not impressed or beholden to what I call “politics as usual”. We are meant to serve the public taxpayers in Johnson County, and I will say that we have all three taken that commitment very serious. I am honored to work with the dedicated employees and elected officials that understand the oath that we have taken to serve people, not political interest in taking from the people. We are to give back of ourselves in the understanding that we have been given a great responsibility by God to do what is right for all His Creation.

I will continue to do all I can for you in the abilities given to me by our Creator and One and Only True Living God. I have and will do all things through prayer, reading and study of Hid word, and guidance of the Holy Spirit that lives within all of us who know Him as our Lord and Savior. That is the only promise I can give to you that I know will stand. It will not stand because of me, but in spite of me and my flesh. I can do nothing good of my own, only those things given to me by the Almighty God.

My prayer is that our nation and leaders will bow their wills to Him and that this nation of many Believers will stand together and proclaim our faith and dedication to Him for the rest of our worldly days. If we do He will bless us beyond measure and allow us to continue to be a great nation in a world that needs to see our faith and belief. There may be many with good intentions, but if it is not of God it will fail.

Thank you for your support and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve my God and you in the position of Commissioner. I have peace that this is the position that God has called me to work in and have a great desire to continue in it for as long as you allow and God gives me peace in it.

We have completed construction of the many projects we were mandated to do and also those that needed to be completed to make the mandated projects possible. We are now moving forward in the construction of the Sheriff’s Office Training Facility and Voting Machine Storage Unit. Framing is underway and we should have it under roof in the next few weeks, if the weather cooperates. This is a needed facility and will make our men and women in uniform stronger and more prepared to protect and serve. I am certain it will be well used and be a blessing to our county. This will also allow for us to store our Voting Equipment in a safe and secure area. The equipment and material have been moved from different storage areas for many years and this secure, atmospheric controlled area will allow our equipment to serve us better and for a longer length of time. These are two areas that have been discussed and thought about for many years. It will be a great positive move forward for our county.

We are also looking toward the direction of building a new Community Corrections Complex. This is also something that has been discussed for a while. The building currently in use is very outdated and too small for the use that will be demanded of it in the very near future. Things are changing and we need to progress with the changes in this area.

We have made many other decisions and have put good guidelines in place to protect you, in the areas that we are commissioned to oversee.

As we move forward into the last half of 2015 and into 2016, I would like to hear from those of you who have taken the time to read this. Let me know your thoughts and if there are things you would like for us to consider. I humbly invite you to attend a meeting or two and see for yourself the things we are doing for you. Our meetings are normally very concentrated and complete in an efficient manner. We always want to know the thoughts of whom we serve and would be honored if you desire to speak to us and allow us to know your thoughts and desires toward our service.

As we celebrate this 4th of July Holiday, let us not forget how we got here and on what basis this great country was formed. We are supposed to be one nation, under God. I am disappointed in our leaders and our citizens in the direction we seem to be going. There will be no good come from turning our backs on the One who has allowed us to exist and not only exist but be so graciously blessed. God’s Truth is Truth whether we believe it or not. What He says will be, and it will be as He says. He does not change.

I ask for your prayers as we move forward and strive to keep our faith in focus. I say again for total clarity, God does not change and we are foolish to think that He does or will. God sees all the way through, from the beginning to eternity. There is no reason for Him to change since He knows all. If God would or could change we would all be in serious trouble. So those who would say that His Word is not true today as well as it was when written, by those He inspired to write His Words, are seriously mistaken and He will not be mocked. Please do not fall into the trap of man’s confused view. We are not capable of doing anything but fail. Without Christ, we are doomed and without His Guidance, Word, and Spirit in our lives we will continue on a path of destruction that will not bode well for any of us, or our America.

I will close with this, and will do my best to update you on some things coming down the pike in my next Newsletter, but for now I will say this, If you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything. I am not sure who came up with that quote, but it is very true and real. But in that, make sure you stand for what is True and not foolishness. Foolishness brings folly, folly brings destruction of all things.
Psalms 118:8 – [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Galations 6:7,8 – Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Proverbs 1:7 – The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction.

May God be gracious and merciful to us and forgive us of our foolishnes

God Bless.

In His Service,

Brian
