Deputy Baird, Beth Baird and RugerDeputy Brian Baird, Commander of the Youth Assistance/Crime Prevention Programs, has been involved in Law Enforcement since 1987 and has worked with schools for most of his career.

Deputy Baird has been a Canine Officer since 2006. On Christmas Day, 2013, his partner Ruger, a Search and Recovery canine, lost his fight with cancer. Ruger touched and was touched by thousands of kids and adults during his 7 year tour with Deputy Baird and his handler, Deputy Beth Baird.
In July, 2013, Benny was introduced to folks at the Johnson County Fair and began his co-mascot duties with Ruger. Benny has been training to continue Ruger’s legacy as a Search and Recovery canine and mascot for the Youth Assistance/Crime Prevention Programs. His birthday is celebrated on July 1, 2010.
